Ukraine charity pipe

Ukraine charity pipes is a charity auction initiated by pipe maker Nanna Ivarsson and organized by Per Billhäll of scandpipes.com.

Pipe makers from all over the world are donating a pipe to be auctioned on eBay and the whole amount is sent to our fellow pipe makers in Ukraine.

My contribution to the charity is a freehand pipe made of Greek briar in honey colour shade.

The hand-cut acrylic stem is blue: the colour of peace and harmony. Blue also characterizes Earth, our common home, the “Blue planet”: This is our only real home, a blue dot floating alone in the dark vastness of the universe – and from that perspective, every nationalism collapses.

The black inlay with the red lines is a reference to the movie “The Thin Red Line”, which I consider one of the best and most poetic anti-war movies ever made.
